According to the study published by the comparator Meilleurtaux Assurances, in partnership with Europe 1 and “Les Échos”, the annual contribution to mutual insurance for a family with two children has increased from 1,100 euros in 2021 to 1,172 euros on average in 2022. Conversely, the price of complementary health insurance for seniors will remain stable in 2022.

The prices of complementary health insurance have increased further in 2022, according to the study published by the comparator Meilleurtaux Assurances, in partnership with Europe 1 and The echoes. Families are particularly affected by high prices. On average, the annual contribution for a family with two children, which has subscribed to a classic guarantee contract, has increased from 1,100 euros in 2021 to 1,172 euros in 2022, i.e. 6.55% increase.

High prices for families and seniors

The price of complementary health insurance for seniors remains stable in 2022, a first for ten years, but is also high. For example, at the national level, a 60-year-old couple with a reinforced guarantee contract saw their contribution billed 2,890 euros on average in 2022, i.e. seven euros more than in 2021. “There is a level of consumption of medical care and goods which is growing very strongly”, explains Samuel Bansard, president of Meilleurtaux Assurances, for whom the mutuals may have tried to spare this part of their clientele targeted by strong increases in recent years. “One can wonder if the various insurers have not pooled more between the populations”, he wonders.

Unlike car and home insurance contracts, which have promised not to increase their rates beyond inflation in 2023, the mutual insurance sector has not made a similar commitment at this stage.
