Nintendo closed a quite memorable year in terms of games for nintendoswitch with a wide variety of titles, managing to break important sales records with releases like Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Given that great year and waiting for the arrival of highly anticipated titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom It is not surprising that Nintendo’s hybrid console has closed the year very well in its sales.
According to estimates of VGChartz, Nintendo Switch has already surpassed the total sales of the Game Boy, thus snatching third place among the best-selling consoles in history.. The figures shared by VGChartz suggest that the sales of Nintendo Switch –considering the original model, Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch OLED– already reached 118.99 million unitswhich would exceed the 119.69 million of the Game Boy to give the new record to the hybrid platform.
The next goal to beat for Switch would be Nintendo DS that has a total of 154.02 million units sold and then there would be PlayStation 2 that sold more than 158 million.
The graph that we present below shows how the Nintendo Switch is on track to catch up with the Nintendo DS, considering that a successor is not yet on the near horizon and analysts suggest that at least there would be another year without having a review.

Switch, DS, Wii and Game Boy sales (total) through month 69. Switch sales are through November 26, 2022.
The only thing missing is a Confirmation from Nintendo to be able to make the new sales record completely official that Nintendo Switch has reached.
We remind you that last year Nintendo released the list of best selling games for nintendo switch where Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has the first position with more than 45 million units sold, followed by Animal Crossing: New Horizons with 38.6 million and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with 28.1 million.
