Lies of P, the ambitious Soulslike from Round8

A little over a month ago, the developers of Lies of P offered an update to their title, after several months of silence and a quick presentation on gamescom. And they didn’t do things by halves, since they delighted us with 40 minutes of play, corresponding to chapters 2 and 3 of the game. This title is not an adaptation of the Disney cartoon, but of the 1881 novel published by Carlo Collodi. The result is a very dark universe, in which the character will try Bring Krat City back to lifewhich is now a shadow of its former self.

The question of lies being central to Pinocchio, it will have a real impact on the adventure. The players will have decisions to make, and these, in addition to the fights, will have an impact in the course of the story, as well as at its end. Returns made after the first contact is very encouragingThe gameplay comes across as edgy and enjoyable. The big question that remains is whether will be able to offer mechanics that encourage players to buy it instead of resorting to games From Software, The Surge or Steelrising.

The answer to this indirect question, we will have in 2023 when it comes out on PC, PS5 and xbox series X/S since at the moment no demo has been announced. But how long does it take to play the adventure? Game director Choi Ji-Won, who has already worked on Lost Ark, said Choi Ji-Won, who previously worked on Lost Ark, spoke to Prankster101 about the life of the title:

If you just beat the game, it will take about 30 hours. But if you thoroughly check all the content that the game hides, it will take you about 60 hours.

A very long lifespan, which speedrunners will be sure to keep to a minimum. The game director also mentioned the division of the game into levelswith an interesting approach. According to him, each level is a game in itselfand taking the time to explore them as you go will allow you to enjoy them:

Each level, if you really dig into it, will take you about 10 hours, and each level has different features and traits. If you take the levels one after another, as a single game, you will enjoy them little by little.

Finally, these 30 to 60 hours could be just the beginning of a longer adventureor even an actual franchise. When asked about the DLC and a possible sequel, Choi Ji-Won didn’t shy away from the question and said that there was no question of wasting time in exposing P’s lies to the professionals and the public:

We’ve spent a lot of time getting Lies of P out there, and we don’t want to waste it on just one game (…) Yes, we’re planning an expansion or DLC. Also, there are so many compelling stories and characters behind and around Pinocchio, that of course we are thinking of a series of games after this one.
