How to benefit from the new business aid system?

Thibaud Hue

The government has just launched its brand new scheme to help businesses during the energy crisis. All companies are eligible for this aid, the amount of which will be proportional to the increase in the company’s gas or electricity bill.

To help companies deal with the energy crisis, the Ministry of the Economy announced its new, simpler and faster system on Saturday morning. It is an envelope of 10 billion euros which will be distributed to companies from this Saturday. The device comes in addition to the tariff shield, a boost envelope which can, in total, go up to four, 50, or even 150 million euros. The amount is proportional to the increase in the gas or electricity bill.

For example, for a tomato producer who pays ten times more than a year ago, government aid will cover a third of the increase.

Simplified online procedures

All companies are concerned and can apply for this aid: industrial SMEs, bakers, entrepreneurs or even farmers. However, two criteria must be checked. The energy bill paid must have increased by 50% compared to 2021 and represent more than 3% of turnover in September. For large companies, on the other hand, these expenses must weigh more than 6% of turnover in the first quarter of 2022.

To qualify for government assistance, everything happens online. Managers should go to impots.gouv.fr. The process has been simplified: for SMEs, for example, the counter is open now to claim aid for the months of September and October. All you have to do is send in your energy bills. Payment is made within 10 to 15 days. For large companies, the wait is a little longer since they will have access to the device at the end of November.
