Fernando de Paul: My time at the U was stressful, but that is highly valued, they are lessons

Chilean-Argentine goalkeeper Fernando de Paul referred to his arrival at Colo ColoHe talked about his goals and recalled his past at the University of Chile, the one that qualified as stressful by the bad times that happened in the club due to negative results.

“They received me in a very good way and that is how day to day is much easier. I am very happy and very excited for what is to come… As soon as the tournament ended, the conversations with Colo Colo increased, everything went very quickly. I did not doubt it for a second because of what the club generates. Also, I like these kinds of challenges,” he told DirecTV Sports.

I see the team very well, it continues to compete in the same way in these friendlies. It is very intense, aggressive and competitive, that shows why they were champions. I think next year will be a good one for everyone at the club,” he added.

Regarding the goals for this season, he assured that “The objective is to advance to the next phase, but you cannot neglect the national tournament, the Chile Cup and the Super Cup. In this team you have to go for everything. The idea is to at least go through the phase and I hope that’s the case.”

De Paul also took time to refer to his time in the blue box, noting that “My time at the U was stressful and we didn’t have a good time because of the results, but that is highly valued, they are learning. I will never speak ill of the places that gave you the opportunity to work”.

There are many people who are very fond of me at the U. I don’t hold grudges with anyone, He highly appreciated what I experienced at the club. I never had conversations to continue, they didn’t get close, but I left calm, since I gave my best”, added the goalkeeper.

Competition with Cortés

Finally he talked about the fight he will have to be the starting goalkeeper. “The competition will be tough with Brayan Cortés, I wanted a challenge like this, wanting to earn my place in this way. This will help the team and me personally to continue growing and demonstrating,” she said.

Finally, he stated that “I would like to play the Super Cup against Magallanes, but you have to demonstrate, convince and compete a lot on a day-to-day basis. We goalkeepers are very loyal in the competition, she will be very good with Brayan and all the goalkeepers.”
