Azul Azul cites an extraordinary board of directors to seal the new DT: Mauricio Pellegrino is close to taking over the bench of the U

Universidad de Chile speeds up the search. The team that trains in La Cisterna is just a few details away from closing its new coach. In the last hours, Mauricio Pellegrino, the one chosen by manager Manuel Mayo, took the lead to sit in the position left vacant by Sebastián Miranda. The latter held meetings in Argentina, on the express trip made by the Azul Azul official.

Pellegrino’s curriculum excites at the U. It is assumed that his experience and extensive experience as a footballer and coach can be key to raising a team that has been fighting relegation for four years. The former defender played for Vélez Sarsfield, Barcelona, Valencia and Liverpool. As a coach, the 51-year-old Argentine led Valencia, Estudiantes de La Plata, Independiente, Deportivo Alavés, Southampton, Leganés and Vélez Sarsfield. This last club left him in March 2022, due to poor results.

The strategist has recognized his fondness for working with the inferiors. That is one of the points that he also likes in the CDA. “The boys must be helped to direct their focus, as if it were a laser beam of the important things in life and training. If the great ones set an example for them, they will follow us, but without losing sight of the fact that the main values must always come from home, from the family,” he said in an interview with the Argentine newspaper La Nación.

His name, however, must be endorsed by the Azul Azul board of directors. During the afternoon, the members of the student board were informed that this Saturday at 10 in the morning they must appear at La Cisterna or connect online, according to the information collected by El Deportivo. The reason for the meeting? Choose the new technician of the blue team.

The U hopes to seal the name of its new coach this Saturday. At the dealership they are already getting ready for the start of the preseason, which will take place on December 8, in La Cisterna.
